Installation of a security camera on an insulated facade
The first step is to route the appropriate cable through the wall to a location that has been pre-selected as ideal for the view. How to choose a place for the camera can be found in our next article Where to place a security camera.
In the next phase of the guide, we will cover the actual preparation and installation steps.
Preparation for insulation
There are many types and methods of insulating buildings, in our tutorial we will deal with the most common one and that is insulating with polystyrene. The first step that you can take before you start insulating, or possibly even during, is to install the mounting plate, which serves as a stable support for the security camera.
The mounting plate is installed according to the enclosed instructions by anchoring it into the masonry and embedding it into the insulation system. Pull the cable through the prepared hole.
Mounting on the finished facade
On completion of the façade, there will be approximately 20cm of cable sticking out of the wall. In our demonstration we are installing an IP camera. How to install the camera can be found in our article Installing an IP camera system or Installing an AHD camera system.
Don't forget the SMART connector, which protects the cable connection against the weather.
The cable box can protect the connectors, but 100% protection is the SMART connector, or use vulcanizing tape.
For a clean installation we recommend sealing the cable box surround for DOME cameras with silicone, this will eliminate unnecessary water leakage into the interior.
