Who is UTP CAT5 305 m in a pull box for?
UTP CAT5 cable in a practical 305 m pull box is the foundation material for anyone building a camera system from scratch or expanding existing infrastructure. Four twisted pairs handle both data transmission for IP cameras and video transmission in AHD systems — all in one cable, with no separate power runs needed.
IP camera systems
For PoE-powered IP cameras, UTP CAT5 is the standard choice. Data transmission distance is 100 m per segment, covering most family homes, smaller commercial spaces and offices.
AHD systems with baluns
Combined with passive baluns (PR-BAL500), the cable transmits HD video signals from AHD/HDCVI/HDTVI cameras. With four pairs, you can carry up to four cameras' video signals simultaneously through a single cable — a major advantage in conduit-constrained installations.
