Connecting the camera system to the Internet for remote monitoring
P2P connection (no public IP address required)
Thanks to the unique feature of connecting your device via P2P, you no longer need to set up and pay for a public (static) IP address. Connecting a camera system to the Internet has never been easier.
What will I need?
- A router connected to the internet (fixed and mobile) - supplied by the ISP.
- Patch cable to connect the recorder/IP camera and router.
- Login details to the device - see manuals for default values.
How to do it
1) Connect the patch cable (not included with the device) to the router. It's good if the router has a DHCP server set up to assign local IP addresses to the connected devices. If DHCP is not enabled in the router, you will need to set up the network data to the recorder or IP camera manually - for experienced users.
2) Connect the other end of the patch cable to the corresponding port on the device.
3) Enabling P2P service on the device can be done in several ways
- Using the monitor/TV (connected to the recorder) - go to the network settings menu and check the "Enable DHCP" option. This will retrieve the correct data from the router and the recorder will communicate to the internet and the P2P server.
- Using the application or WEB interface on the PC (recorders and IP cameras) - The key is to be able to get to the web interface of the device or have the Search Tool - In the web interface, find the appropriate configuration tab for LAN settings and check the DHCP allocation option in the menu.
4) The next step is to activate the P2P service itself in the device menu. Go to the P2P menu and enable the service by checking the box and saving. Within a few tens of seconds the service status should revert to ON-LINE
- Off-line - the service is not available - check your network and internet connection settings, and enable the service if necessary.
- On-line - the service is available - you can connect remotely using the serial number of your device see example in the picture
5) Continue with the instructions for each application:
- To monitor and manage using web browser
- Create Bitvision account and add device for online tracking
